Great communication, easy check in, great location, walking distance into town, would stay again

The apartment itself was clean, decent, and in a good location. Overall the stay was okay, but unfortunately the communication with the host caused a lot of unnecessary stress. Before our stay, we were asked to pay a deposit outside of Airbnb, which is against Airbnb guidelines and made us uncomfortable. After paying, we were sent incorrect check-in instructions — twice. Shortly before check-in, we had to manually search online to find the property’s contact details ourselves. There was also confusion around timings: the listing stated check-in was at 3pm, but we were told 3:30pm in messages, and the checkout time was changed from 11am to 10:30am at very short notice. The listing also advertised free on-site and on-street parking, which wasn’t accurate. We had to pay to park at a nearby NCP car park instead. On a positive note, the apartment was clean and reasonably comfortable, although the beds were quite hard for our personal preference, so something to keep in mind when booking.

The worst experience I have ever had with a stay. I have proof of all of the following - Had to chase check in details. Discrepancies over check in and check out times. Property not hygienic - hairs, stains, mud in sink, lights not working, smashed Windows. Despite providing correct car reg details for permit, was issued a parking ticket. I double checked and had sent the CORRECT details - air bnb also confirmed this. Host tried to claim I hadn't. Host was extremely un responsive, unsympathetic and rude both to myself and air bnb. I was advised to stop comms with host due to their behaviour and unwillingness to comply. Had to spend a week chasing my deposit back which seemed to be held without reason (be wary they ask you to pay a deposit using an external link!) and sorting out compensation. My family weekend was completely ruined, I didn't feel settled, welcomed or heard on any of my issues, which forced me to take it higher up and seek support from Air Bnb.

We booked this air BnB as my band had a gig for NYE down the road and it was perfect for us all. We had everything we needed for a nights stay. Home was clean and decorated well. Very big with 3 floors, 3 double beds and 4 single beds.
